I thrive when I’m being productive. I thrive when I’m achieving. I thrive when I’m under pressure. I thrive when I’m up against a challenge. I thrive because I’m a person that likes to do, that likes to be active and likes to be purposeful in life.

It’s the middle of May. How did that happen? How did it get to even be the beginning of May in the first place, when I was planning on posting a blog, and then suddenly go to being the middle of May? Time really does so easily slip away.

So, it’s a quiet Sunday afternoon and I’ve found myself on the sofa watching The Lion King, a particular favourite of mine but a film I can’t bring myself to watch very often as it’s one of those emotionally exhausting films that evokes both emotion and thought. It’s a film about so many things including family, love, morals, leadership and overcoming obstacles, not to mention the foundation of all Disney films – good overcoming evil.
But this particular time, the magnetic quote that drew my thoughts the most was the notion of how much the past can determine the here and now, and even the future. Or can it? Continue reading
Christmas. A time of what? A time of trees, tinsel, wreaths, holly, decorations and paper chains? A time of gifts, shopping, wrapping paper, sellotape, ribbons and bows? A time of mince pies, chocolate, turkey, cranberry, sprouts and pudding? A time of family, loved ones, friends, laughter, arguments and general chaotic merriment? Or a time of sadness, isolation, loss, loneliness, unhappiness and rejection?
Now. One main law in the world I live in is not to focus on the negative. Don’t entertain it, don’t indulge it and don’t swim around in it. But. Sometimes you need to touch on it in order to expose and appreciate the positive! I can guarantee 100% that whatever difficulties, whatever challenges, whatever heartache, whatever brokenness you are experiencing in your own life right now, there is somebody not so far away that is having an even tougher time.
